With ATV season still fully in effect, you may be in search of some great trails to explore across the nation; From B.C. to Quebec, we’ve compiled a list of five trails worthy of adding to your personal must-ride list.

Elliot Lake, Ontario

Once home to the world's most tremendous uranium prospecting rush, Elliot Lake (roughly two and a half hours away from Sault Ste. Marie) is now more commonly thought of as an all-season outdoor playground for Powersport enthusiasts far and wide—housing one of the largest insured ATV trail networks in the country. There are over 300 km of trails to enjoy, traversing stunning forest backdrops, funky rock formations and lakeside splendour.

It's also a great deal, being one of the five trails included on ATV Ontario's $120 annual PowerPass, which also grants you access to Mattawa, Haliburton, Georgian Bay and Cochrane.

Bancroft, Ontario

Canada's mineral capital, Bancroft—part of a massive 700+ km network of alluring picturesque pathways to explore via ATV (known collectively as the Eastern Ontario Trail Alliance)—boasts the 156 km Hastings Heritage Trail. The multi-use trail follows along the remains of the old Central Ontario Lineway, which ceased operation in 1984.

One popular draw in Bancroft is the many well-maintained bridges, some specially built for ATV and snowmobile trails.

The Trans-Quebec #63, Quebec

Clocking in at over 3700 km, the Trans-Quebec #63 (part of The Trans Canada Trail) is one of the more well-maintained trails in the country—on top of being so long, it qualifies as a highway. In fact, with its signage and trail numbers, you may mistake it for one. Set amid the backdrop of Rivière aux Mulets, home to must-see natural whirlpools, there is excellent fishing and swimming along the way. More than enough natural wonder to pack in a full day of adventure.

It's probably a good idea to have your ATV tuned up before attempting this trail.

Orofino Mountain, B.C.

While four lakes and a mine may sound like the title of a quirky, offbeat Netflix comedy, it's actually the perfect description for the network of trails around British Columbia's Orofino mountain. This whimsical trail takes you past Sawmill lake, Madden lake, Ripley lake, Taylor lake and the old Orofino mine site, prime for an afternoon of exploring. Some have noted that hill climbs along this trail are much more suited to seasoned riders looking for a challenge.

Duck Mountain, Manitoba

In contrast to other trails on this list, the Duck Mountain trails (part of the Manitoba Escarpment, along with the Turtle Mountains, the Riding Mountains and the Porcupine Hills) offer a more off-the-grid experience. This means, at multiple points, riders fall outside of standard nationwide cellphone service. Deep blue lakes, rolling meadows and an active community of wildlife from black bears to moose, there is a lot to see and do; however, being so remote, you'll want to make sure you can pack accordingly. For example, you'll want to bring along a winch in case you get stuck.
